AMURT UK is part of a global network of AMURT chapters, each with their own independent legal status and local focus but united philosophically by a shared mission and spiritual practice – Ananda Marga.
The first AMURT chapter was founded in India in 1965 to do local relief work. As the Ananda Marga philosophy spread globally, so did AMURT’s international relief and development work. It was significant for being one of the few global NGOs originating from the developing world.
