The ‘Inclusion Space’ project by Dada Ganadevananda, recognizes social sharing as a value and an indispensable practice, because it’s only method and instrument to indicate to those who were not aware of it, or have forgotten it, that the fortunes of human life are uncertain and transient, and that we could all find ourselves in the condition of needing others’ solidarity. This precariousness is even more present today, because the dignity of work or a fair pay have become optional, and no longer are the right enshrined in the Constitution.
Obviously inclusion should be applied starting from the bottom, from those pockets of social discomfort and chronic poverty, because only by raising the living standard of the poor to a dignified level can one hope for a more just society, attentive to the rights of all citizens.
Catania’s Angeli Custodi neighbourhood (Italy), with its chronic history of tolerated illegality, is the place where the Fondazione Stella Polare Onlus will offer low income families food support in agreement with the Food Bank. The service will also provide by a listening avenue to evaluate the needs and appropriately modulate the help.
