Editorial – Baba’s Mark on this Planet
A short editorial can hardly pretend to summarise what Baba has given to this
planet. Nor can a long book describe what He has given.
In the future people will be able to do this better than we can, as we are living
just a generation after Baba left His physical body. We don’t yet have a perspective
on the impact Ananda Marga can have on Earth. Margiis, including myself, may be
impatient and wonder why, 30 years after His departure, in October 1990, we have
not yet established Ananda Marga around the world. A tall building needs a deep
foundation, and that foundation may never be seen, or even thought about, by the
people who gaze admiringly at the building, or by those who go inside the building,
to work there or just to visit.
Now we are still making the foundation of Ananda Marga. The chief architect,
though, left us in 1990. However, He did leave extensive plans and had started
constructing the foundation Himself. And why didn’t He finish the work, and leave
us with a Blissful Sadvipra Samaj, before He departed from His physical body? Well,
if we had no work to do, but could just enjoy His work, we would not develop the
intelligence or strength of character or insights to maintain and expand the work. If
you, as a parent, do the homework for your children, they will not really learn the
material. They may graduate from school, but they will have few skills to do useful
or meaningful work in the world.
So we need to work to establish Ananda Marga, whether through pracar, service,
education, or any of the other many platforms that Baba gave us. That, I find, is the
best way to make Him happy.
